Serba Pertama di Dunia Maya

Tahun 1492, Christoper Columbus dan kru kapalnya mengklaim telah menemukan benua Amerika yang disebutnya 'Dunia Baru'. Hampir 500 tahun kemudian, tepatnya pada 1969, dalam 'Dunia Baru' tersebut ditemukan lagi satu dunia yang tak lain adalah 'Dunia Maya'. Tentu saja si penemu bukan lagi Columbus dan krunya, melainkan para teknisi IT di Departemen Pertahanan (Dephan) Amerika Serikat.

Lewat proyek ARPA/ARPANET (Advanced Research Project Agency Network), para teknisi yang bermarkas di gedung Pentagon itu mendemonstrasikan bagaimana dengan hardware dan software komputer yang berbasis UNIX, orang bisa melakukan komunikasi dalam jarak yang tidak terhingga melalui saluran telepon.

Proyek ARPANET selanjutnya merancang bentuk jaringan, kehandalan, dan seberapa besar informasi dapat dipindahkan. Hasil dari proyek inilah yang menjadi cikal bakal pembangunan protokol baru yang sekarang dikenal sebagai TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol).

Mulanya, ARPANET dibuat untuk kepentingan keamanan nasional Amerika Serikat (AS) dan hanya menghubungkan 4 situs milik dari Stanford Research Institute, University of California, Santa Barbara, University of Utah, di mana mereka membentuk satu jaringan terpadu di tahun 1969.

Setelah itu, ARPANET mulai diperkenalkan secara luas pada Oktober 1972. Tidak lama kemudian proyek ini berkembang pesat di sejumlah negara bagian hingga menarik minat sejumlah universitas di AS untuk bergabung. Hal ini membuat ARPANET kesulitan untuk mengatur.

Untuk mengatasinya, maka ARPANET dipecah menjadi dua, yaitu "MILNET" untuk keperluan militer (keamanan nasional) dan "ARPANET" baru yang lebih kecil untuk keperluan non-militer seperti, universitas-universitas. Gabungan kedua jaringan akhirnya dikenal dengan nama DARPA Internet, yang kemudian disederhanakan lagi menjadi Internet alias 'Dunia Maya'.

Situs web Pertama di dunia

Situs web pertama yang muncul di dunia maya sekaligus menandai dimulainya era World Wide Web alias 'www' dibuat oleh Sir Timothy John "Tim" Berners-Lee pada 6 Agustus 1991. Beliau saat itu mengorbitkan http://nxoc01.cern.ch sebagai situs pertama dan kemudian diikuti denganhttp://nxoc01.cern.ch/hypertext/WWW/TheProject.html yang menjadi halaman web pertama.

Sayangnya situs ini sudah mati. Nah, selanjutnya untuk menampilkan situs web tadi, beliau menggunakan komputer NeXTcube sebagai server web yang menjadikan komputer seharga USD 6.500 itu sebagai server web pertama di dunia.

Tahun 1994, Sir Tim Berners-Lee mendirikan World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) di Massachusetts Institute of Technology dan sampai sekarang masih menjabat sebagai ketua. Sumbangsih beliau dalam dunia maya sangat besar karena World Wide Web yang merupakan hasil karyanya tidak dipatenkan sehingga sampai saat ini kita masih bisa menggunakan secara bebas. Atas jasa-jasanya itu, Sir Tim Berners-Lee dianugerahi gelar kehormatan KBE oleh Ratu Elizabeth II pada 16 Juli 2004.

Situs Web Pertama di Indonesia

Di Indonesia sendiri tidak ada informasi akurat tentang siapa yang pertama kali membuat situs web. Yang jelas, internet baru mulai dikenal luas di negeri kita pada tahun 1994 dan saat itu beberapa situs web yang dibuat oleh orang Indonesia hanya menumpang hosting di beberapa universitas luar negeri karena status mereka yang sedang menuntut ilmu di sana.

Setelah tamat dan pulang ke Indonesia, tentu saja situs-situs yang dibuat tersebut sudah tidak bisa diakses lagi karena sudah dihapus oleh universitas pemilik hosting. Satu-satunya yang mungkin tersisa adalah situsnya pak Budi Rahardjo: http://indonesia.elga.net.id yang mengklaim sebagai situs web pertama yang menyajikan informasi tentang Indonesia.

Menurut pak Budi Rahardjo, situs webnya sudah ada sebelum browser Netscape ditemukan pada 1994 dan saat itu masih menumpang hosting di Universitas Manitoba, Kanada sehingga beralamat url http://www.umanitoba.ca/indonesian.

Domain Pertama di dunia

DNS (Domain Name Server/Service) atau yang sering disebut 'Domain' saja berfungsi untuk mempermudah pengguna internet saat melakukan akses ke server untuk menerjemahkan IP address komputer. Domain pertama kali dibuat pada tahun 1984 yang terdiri dari domain top level seperti [dot]COM, .ORG, .EDU, .GOV, .MIL dan ccTLD.

Tanggal 15 Maret 1985, domain komersial pertama (.com) didaftarkan atas nama Symbolics.com oleh perusahaan komputer Symbolics Inc.,

menyusul kemudian 5 domain berikut:

bbn.com (24 April 1985)

think.com (24 Mei 1985)

mcc.com (11 Juli 1985)

dec.com, (30 September 1985)

Ray Tomlinson

E-mail pertama di dunia

Pada tahun 1971, Ray Tomlinson memulai proyek SNDMSG. Lalu ia melanjutkan eksperimen dengan menggunakan file protocol yang bernama CYPNET sehingga program SNDMSG bisa mengirim pesan ke komputer lain yang berada di dalam jaringan ARPANET.

Itulah awal terciptanya sebuah 'e-mail' atau surat elektronik. Pesan e-mail yang pertama kali dikirim Ray, dan merupakan e-mail yang Pertama di dunia adalah "QWERTYUIOP".

Search Engine pertama di dunia

Jauh sebelum Google merajai dunia search engine (mesin pencari), langkah mereka sudah dirintis oleh Alan Emtage yang saat itu masih berstatus mahasiswa di McGill University, Kanada.

Tahun 1990, dia membuat search engine pertama di dunia dengan kemampuan masih terbatas yang diberi nama "Archie" (diambil dari kata archives). Archie kemudian diikuti oleh "Veronica", "Jughead" dan "Wandex" pada 1993. Para pemain besar baru muncul beberapa tahun kemudian; Google (1998), Yahoo! Search (2004), dan MSN (2005; dilebur menjadi Bing pada 2009)

Browser pertama di dunia

Proyek "World Wide Web" alias "www" yang dikerjakan oleh Sir Timothy John "Tim" Berners-Lee pada tahun 1991 ternyata bukan saja menandai munculnya situs web pertama di dunia namun juga melahirkan web browser (penjelajah/peramban web) pertama di dunia.

Selanjutnya agar tidak rancu, Sir Berners Lee kemudian mengubah nama browsernya menjadi "Nexus", lalu disempurnakan lagi menjadi "libwww".

Tanggal 22 April 1993, Marc Andreessen melalui proyek National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) merilis browser yang lebih canggih: Mosaic.

Karena fiturnya yang 'user friendly' dan sudah bisa memuat gambar, Mosaic menjadi populer dan sering dianggap sebagai 'browser pertama yang sebenarnya'. Tahun 1994, Marc Andreessen keluar dari proyek NCSA dan merilis browser Netscape Navigator. Netscape kemudian berhasil menenggelamkan Mosaic dan menjadi penguasa browser.

Setahun berikutnya muncul pesaing berat: Internet Explorer produksi Microsoft. Persaingan Netscape dan Internet Explorer (IE) di periode 1995-1998 dikenal sebagai "Perang Browser". IE yang menjadi pemenang perang browser sampai saat ini masih menguasai pasar browser dengan statistik jumlah pengguna sekitar 60% dibayangi oleh Firefox 24% dan Chrome 7%.

Instant Messengger pertama di dunia

Fitur chating-chatingan (instant mesengger) sebenarnya sudah ada saat internet mulai dikenal pada 1969, namun yang diakui sebagai program instant mesengger pertama adalah ICQ hasil karya Yair Goldfinger, Arik Vardi, Sefi Vigiser, dan Amnon Amir yang dirilis pada November 1996.

Social Networking pertama di dunia

"Facebook membantu Anda terhubung dan berbagi dengan orang-orang dalam kehidupan Anda". Begitulah kira-kira definisi social networking menurut Mark Zuckerberg. Namun, Zuckerberg bukanlah yang pertama karena konsep serupa sudah diawali oleh Classmates.com pada tahun 1995 yang menjadikannya sebagai situs social networking pertama di dunia.

Tahun 1997, SixDegrees.com hadir menyempurnakan fitur-fitur Classmates.com dan menginspirasi munculnya sejumlah social networking terkemuka seperti Friendster (2002), MySpace (2003), Facebook (2004) dan Twitter (2006).

Internet Hoax pertama di dunia

Hoax atau berita palsu hampir tiap hari akan kita dapatkan di internet. Bahkan setiap tanggal 1 April bisa dipastikan kita akan menerima hoax berkaitan dengan iven April Mop. Kebetulan pula, hoax pertama kali beredar di internet pada 1 April 1984 yang mengabarkan bahwa (ex negara) Uni Soviet akan bergabung dalam jaringan Usenet di AS.

Pandangan Pertama

Menurut kalian.. Apa sih pandangan pertama itu?

Kalau menurut Gue sendiri sih PP('Pandangan Pertama' bukan 'Profil Picture' di Facebook!!) itu tuh,, ketika seseorang untuk pertama kalinya tertarik dengan orang lain(so pasti lawan jenis yahh),, haha

biasanya target pada pandangan pertama susaahh buat di lupain udah gitu rasanya pengen banget di milikin+bisa di bahagiain!^^

Pandangan Pertama Gue tuh saat Gue kelas 6 SD( sebenernya terlalu dini untuk mengenal wanita tapi kalau udah suka gimana??. wkwk ). Waktu itu gue kenal PP gue di gereja deket rumah gue( niat ibadah apa nyari cewe sih!?), dulu tiap pembagian kelompok sekolah minggu,, gue selalu dapet kelompok nomor 4 dan selalu sekelompok sama si PP gue itu.. Nah tiap di kelompok inilah gue di ajarin dan di kasih tahu ini-itu sama si PP tentang agama(maklum baru migrasi agama sebelumnya jadi masih newbie), nah mulai dari situ lah gara-gara si PP baek banget sama gue( cailahh ada yang perhatian nih yee..cucahcuit cucahcuitt^^ ) gue jadi suka banget tuh sama dia, sampe sampe gue rajin banget ibadah, ikut koor, latihan padus, nyanyi ke depan, ikut lomba bahkan jadi ketua lomba waktu itu di gereja gue( seinget gue, udah gue menangin susah-susah perlombaannya pas pembagian hadiah gue kaga masuk ::MASIHNGAREP:: ) hahaha

Gue juga masih simpen kertas-kertas berkas tugas kelompok dari gereja yang sekelompok sama dia sampai sekarang.. Gue juga sering liatin profilnya dari jaman Friendster sampe Facebook.. ga mau sampe ketinggalan, pokoknya.. update teruss ngawasin hahaha
Oh iya hampir lupa.. Gue rasa PP tuh kaga kenal cakep atau kaganya.. tapi dari sifatnya dan kelakuannya hehe

Gue posting ini saat Gue udah punya cewe dan Gue udah kuliah.. tapi rasa suka sama dia tuh masih ada.. karena bertahun-tahun gue dulu cuma ngarepin dia.. dan sampe saatnya putus asa lah gue pas tau dia udah ada cowonya padahal dulu dia pernah ngomong ke temennya(ga sengaja gue denger.. dan jelas-jelas gue di sampingnya) pengen fokus belajar, tapi nyatanya engga.. ga ga ga tahan.. hahaha
mau di apain lagi gue juga ga bisa ganggu jalannya dia kan^^? dan gue cuma kasih dia kebebasan buat berimprovisasi^^

Pas tau dia udah punya cowo, ternyata rasanya gimana gitu kaya ada yang hilang haha
